18” x 24” A drawing with oil and dry pastels, charcoal and china marker on paper and the reason why I mention this is because there are a lot of different textures in this painting and a lot of movement. I specifically did it this way to create a very busy painting, representing how, when I have so many things going on, I feel lost in what I’m doing and by how much I am doing. I have purpose, I have goals, dreams, and plans, but when I have so many of them going on, I feel like I’m lost in my own existence, lost in my own life and I spend my time trying to regain control constantly instead of enjoying the ride. At the top I have 3 chairs that are tumbling down in various perspectives and there is a chair that sits alone to the right middle that has grey and blue and just kind of sits there precariously, it isn’t really sure of itself but is trying to be it’s own. At the bottom, in the white haze, there are several chairs that have obviously fallen to the ground and exist within the experience but are in various forms of disarray. It’s a piece I enjoy because of the active feel. Things can always change in our lives and for better or for worse the activity keeps me going, as long as I don’t let it overwhelm me.
