Boxed up little Secret

20” x 16” Is for me, very obvious by the title alone. The chair in front is at one with the color of the background, there’s a definite outline, there is some yellow mixed into it, but for the most part it’s the same color as the background. Then you notice there’s a little box in the corner of the room, in the back corner of the painting, it’s a bright yellow, outlined in black with touches of red. This painting represents those things in my life that I’ve had to keep boxed up; little secrets that you’re not allowed to tell or that other people tell you not to tell. The chair in the front has a little bit of a double layer on the seat and doesn’t seem completely attached to itself in other places as well. It symbolizes those feelings I have when I have to keep those secrets, you don’t feel completely yourself, you feel like your living a double life in some respects and you don’t get a whole chance to be a complete whole person. You’ve kind of faded into the background because you can’t be completely yourself, since you can’t be completely honest. But then, the bright yellow box represents those little secrets that remain there and are difficult to hide. I think unfortunately everyone has to deal with this in their lives, they have some little secrets they wished they could tell, but for whatever reason it might hurt somebody or might not be the best for even helping in that situation, and so we have these little secrets that we keep, tucked away in a box somewhere, in the corner of our being.
