"Trapped inTransition" Art Exhibition

The Art Show Continues!
Please join me on Thursday, September 6th, from 5-9pm for the Artist Reception at Ashtree Studios for my new art exhibit "Trapped inTransition".
Over the last few years, I've gone through a lot of life transitions and I felt it was time to put some of those experiences onto canvas. The way I've chosen to express these feelings are explored through new methods in my art creation.
This exhibit will run from August 2nd through September 29th.
Our regular hours are Th/Fri 1-6pm and Sat 10am-3pm.

I've been unbelievably busy these last few months and it hasn't just been in getting ready for my August exhibition. I also want to share with you other good news:
During the month of July and into the first week of August, I've been happy to have exhibited one of my "Self-Portraits" series paintings in Baltimore, Maryland at the Metro Gallery as part of their CLIQUE show. The artpiece is "In my fog" - you can see it on my website in the "Self-Portraits" section.
Secondly, I was accepted to exhibit 3 other paintings from this same series in Minneapolis, MN at the Altered Esthetics Gallery as part of The Art of Sacrifice show. The 3 that are going are "things are not well in this house", "Visiting Hours Do Not Apply" and "Torn" - all 3 you can also see on my website. They will be on display for the month of September.
Thirdly, I signed an agreement with the Fresno Art Museum to have 6 of my artworks and 2 prints for sale in their Gallery Shop. Please go visit and consider buying one of my pieces through them. It'll make me look good.

Also . . . I'm happy to be presenting a mini documentary about my life and art to you. This great little video was created by my good friend and arts internet marketing guru Marcel Nunis and features the music of Kien Lim.
You can view it on my website (where you can see other info about my work and Ashtree Studios) at www.ashtreestudios.com
or at www.youtube.com/aileenri
or on http://youtube.com/watch?v=839_fEfP2ww
or Marcel's page http://youtube.com/user/dathang
or on my myspace page.

Take a look and tell me what you think.

Thanks!
Aileen.

August 24th & 26th Rogue Year Round

ROGUE YEAR ROUND for 2007 - AUGUST

Running the last weekend of every month until October - bringing you pairings of shows you may have missed, glimpses of shows that are in development and perhaps shows you want to experience again.

CAROL BEQUETTE is proud to sponsor ROGUE YEAR ROUND AUGUST 2007 two evenings each featuring two great shows!

7:00 PM, Friday, August 24 @ ASHTREE STUDIOS 1035 N Fulton

$10 - doors open at 6:30 - no latecomers after intermission – rated G

Scats on the Sly - music performance

They don't write 'em like that any more but Scats on The Sly definitely plays 'em! With a swinging sound reminiscent of Squirrel Nut Zippers, this copasetic quartet will take you on a jumpin' journey to a time when songs had charm and sophistication and political correctness had yet to make an appearance.

“What music! What fun!
Mallory and the band show love for the music of the past. Clap, hum, whistle, sing along.

The Show Show - Terry & His Friends - solo performance

What's a show show? Storytelling, magic, puppetry, music, improv, and more! It's so many different kinds of shows, it can only be...The Show Show! Terrance V. Mc Arthur packs 50 years of performing experience into each performance. Bring your inner child and prepare to get silly!

Storytelling isn't just for children, anymore! Terry and his Friends takes old

stories and makes them into something to keep you up at night. He makes up his

own stories while he's talking to you. His stories are more than just words; with

magic, music, balloons, and puppets, he's a 3-D story artist! If he wasn't my

brother, I'd adopt him!---.”

George the Giant’s review from Rogue 2007.

6:30 PM, Sunday, August 26 @ the STARLINE 831 E Fern

$10 - doors open at 6 - no latecomers after intermission – rated PG 13

Acoustic Highway - music performance

Acoustic Highway: a high energy acoustic rock quartet of guitars, bass, and latin percussion wrapped in rich harmonic vocals playing both original and unique cover songs to thrill the ear and move the body. Playing in and around the Fresno/Clovis scene, the band, (Rick & Joanne Calhoun with Jim Rust) welcomes new bass player Mike Alexander (formerly of Chris plays guitar) to enrich their Gypsy blues meets Cowboy jazz sound into an exciting mix to bring the house down.

Jaguar Bennett in…

Bullet Point - solo performance

Larry Driscoll has problems. His company is under SEC investigation. His partner is selling him out. Death stalks his family. His wife won't sleep with him, and he suspects God feels the same way. But Larry can't think about distractions; he's making the most important PowerPoint presentation of his life.

“Jaguar Bennett gave a wonderful and convincing performance as the businessman coming to terms with the rough points in his life. . . . Anyone who has to deal with PowerPoint presentations and Excel charts on a regular basis will especially appreciate their very clever use in this show!”

The Undercurrent review from Rogue 2007

Rogue Year Round continues the excitement of live performance!

We are bringing back performers from the March event. This provides the opportunity for performers to further hone their craft and showcase their talent for bigger and better things. It is our hope that this will inspire not only the performers to strive for more but also plant the seed for the opening of more performance venues within the cultural spectrum that is Fresno.

OTHER ROGUE YEAR ROUND DATES IN THE PLANNING…

September 28 & 30

October 26 & Ending the season with a big Fundraiser Halloween Costume Party on the 28th!

We have been at the forefront of cultivating nutrition in this area – let us extend that to talent.
